Heat up the grill and wash the fava been pods. Place them in a bowl and toss them with enough olive oil to coat the pods. Or, you can spray each pod with canola oil. Place them on the grill and allow each side to blacken. When the beans start pushing their way out of the pod, they're done.
Place in a bowl and allow them to cool enough to the point where you can handle them, but still warm. You should be able to pop the beans out of the pods easily. In a smaller bowl, add some olive oil, fresh lemon juice, and salt, and mix well. Add the grilled fava beans to pasta, quinoa or a fresh arugula salad.
