Boston Honey Company’s origin story dates back to 1995, when founder Andy owned a house painting business and was doing a job at the home of a rabbi in Newton, MA. He was fascinated by the two hives kept by the rabbi and a year later had a colony of his own. As the number of colonies grew, his wife and son came on to help out and soon the apiary became a full-time business.
Guided by the slogan
We are grateful to the honeybee and for all that it gives, they see their apiary as an act of appreciation of the honeybee. They employ no harmful practices nor treatments, instead opting for organic methodology, sustainable actions, and intense focus on each individual colony. Selecting locations with a wide abundance of flowers, water, and natural protection from wind and flooding, they’re also careful to ensure that the area can support the number of colonies on each site.
