Witchcat Farm is located on the historic Bakersfield Poor Farm, which was built back in 1825. Current owners and operaters Mickey and Danielle Lopes purchased the land in 1987. They started slowly, with just one variety of garlic and their first harvest yielding just 10 pounds. These days they grow over 35 garlic varieties, all by hand (even the plowing was done by hand until very recent years), and their harvests can exceed 10,000 pounds! They we've been working with them way back in 2013 and look forward to their delicious garlic scapes every summer.
